better than the original A-class though.

I wonder if we’re going to get the same replies as the last time a car failed that test. Back then the Jeep failed because the Swedes cheated/hated Americans/improperly loaded the vehicle/’it’s a Jeep, it doesn’t have to handle well’ and lots of other reasons other than design flaws by Jeep. According to many front page comments.

Pah. If you want to fail the elk test, you’ll need to try harder:

Fair enough ... with the Jeep, what impressed me most was actually the wheels staying somewhat intact.

So it’s a drift machine. Problem?

Yeah, I remember that one ... and if we’re honest, it’s not quite as bad as you would think when you hear “failed the test”.
Given how the goal is to have the car stay stable under maneuvering, though, it seems all but fair to scold the Mercedes in question. It really doesn’t seem all that happy going through the tight stuff.

**wobble machine
//edit: To clarify: I consider drifting a voluntary undertaking ... the car should not drift when you don’t want it to. ;)

Now that’s a very positive way of looking at it.

It's no Citroen Nemo though. That thing flipped right onto it's roof.

Google Translate tells me that Teknikens Varld say that the stability control on this particular model doesn’t seem to operate and that the different weight distribution as compared with the non-hybrid Merc seems to be the problem and that Merc should take it away and get it right this time.

Just looked the ADAC test up that was to feature the trio of Qubo, Nemo & Bipper ... that looked really uncomfortable.
It still seems odd to me that a decidedly more able car like the Mercedes C-class can encounter trouble so easily.
At least the Nemo flipped at 90 kph! :D

Thanks for sharing that ... I figured that maybe the brakes operated differently due to the hybrid setup.

That’s probably about the most fun you can have driving a Nemo.
It’s a good advert for ESP though.

But if it’s so willing to drift that it will do it when you don’t ask it to, it’s probably a more willing drifter than some others

This way of looking at it ... it’s growing on me.
To most people, though, it’s little more than a safety risk still. :?

You’re right. Mercedes should donate them all as dedicated drift machines, in the interests of public safety.
In fact, I’ll lay my own life on the line to drift one of these puppies if it means keeping them off the streets.

Still no fucks given about this stupid test.
Never hit a deer and never crashed avoiding deer in solid axled Jeeps w/o stability control. Oh your RWD car oversteered when you jerked the wheel back and forth? Good.

If you’ve got your shit together when it comes to driving, I’d say this is of little importance to you. If you put Ol’ Gran-Gran or someone relatively ingenuous behind the wheel, it suddenly has its role.
I get where you’re coming from, though. Just found it funny that it cometh around at such a lowly speed ... and in such a clumsy manner.
